Term 2 Arts Spotlight – Shadow Puppets & Short Films

Student Arts Spotlight

Year 9/10 Art Skills – Shadow Puppet Performance

This term, students in the Year 9/10 Art Skills class explored the art of storytelling through shadow puppetry. Each student developed their own performance, beginning with storyboarding and puppet design, before recording their short films with audio, sound effects, and voiceovers. The final collection showcases a diverse range of imaginative and creative short videos.

Year 11 Creative Arts – Original Short Film Projects

Year 11 Creative Arts students brought their creative visions to life through short film projects. Supported by a folio documenting the stages of development, production, and editing, two students created original films that reflect their storytelling and performance skills.

Savaria – Crime-Thriller Genre Short Film
“I’ve chosen my product to be a short film that is ideally around five minutes long. It will involve several characters all acted by me to ultimately display how well I can perform with diversity under a witty crime-thriller genre—showcasing my ability to act and set up a performance.”
Savaria

Grace – Atmospheric and Visual Short Film
“My film focuses on a man who is free from the confusion of morality yet jailed by his own violence. Though silent, the film explores this theme through a thriller narrative. The ticking clock throughout symbolises the commodification of violence, each act a ‘tick’ toward his goal. At the end, the audience sees he’s made it—just in time—for his favourite film, revealing the chilling normality of his brutality.”
